Kitchen Remodel Reveal

IT’S HERE!! Friends, I am so happy to finally be able to show you our kitchen remodel. We have been working on this project for a over a year and we could not be more in love with the results. In August 2019 I shared a blog on my Kitchen Remodel Inspiration and now i’m here with the final results. Below is a straight up before and after — because who doesn’t love those? And further down you will see in more detail what we changed and added into the space.

Before & After

Stage 1: Before we actually started really working on renovating the kitchen, we painted the ceilings Bright White by Sherwin Williams, updated the recessed lighting, and painted the walls Grayspace by Sherwin Williams. Below I shared a photo of the house before Brett and I owned it so you can see the real before!

Stage 2: We removed the cabinets on the right side of the sink and replaced them with industrial style open shelving (similar to these). We also removed the half wall that was separating the kitchen and living room! This made a HUGE difference in the way our upstairs felt. It was left unfinished for a while because we knew we would be replacing the counters in the near future.

Stage 3: We painted the cabinets to look a lot more modern with Tricorn Black by Sherwin Williams and added new hardware! To be completely honest, we had some issues with the specific hardware we ordered — but here are some that are similar to ones we got!

Stage 4: Concrete counters were made and installed! Brett did such an amazing job on these and they are one of my favorite features of the kitchen. A really cool feature he added to the concrete counters is a drainboard formed into the countertop running into the sink. This created a designated dish drying section and I love it. Along with the counters, we also updated our sink and faucet!

Stage 5: This is when we replaced the counter on our island, and this is 100% the change that made the biggest difference in our kitchen, in my opinion. Our waterfall butcher block countertop is now the center of our kitchen and helps make the entire upstairs feel like an inviting living space. Additionally, we updated our counter stools as well and we grabbed these cuties from Target.

Stage 6: Last, but certainly not least — we extended our counter top by adding a butcher block cutting station above where our coffee cart lives. It was the perfect addition to make our kitchen feel bigger and make use of free space. Also, we switched out the industrial open shelving for these larger floating shelves! Aren’t they beautiful?! Now I have more room for displayed storage and it also helps with making the kitchen feel larger. Finally, the last piece of the renovation was adding backsplash! I’ve always loved the way it makes a kitchen feel more put together and clean! We went with these subway tile backsplash from Lowe’s and did a white grout!
