The Duplex 2.0 Reveal

Just about two years ago, I shared the reveal of the other half of our duplex and now the second half is finally complete! There is still some exterior work to be done like adding new front and back porches and such, but that will have to wait until the summer months! It’s been a long time coming, but it’s finally finished! Eventually we hope to rent this half on Airbnb or VRBO, but currently a couple of our friends will be staying there for now, so besides picking the finishing details, this space is left pretty bare for the tenant to make their own!

Just like the other half, this project was basically a complete gut job, the kitchen and bath were both down to the studs, and we’ve replaced absolutely everything in every room, from top to bottom, so it’s feeling so fresh and clean in there! I wish I had more before photos, but honestly I didn’t even step foot in there until it was basically gutted because it was in such rough shape and filled with SO MUCH stuff from the tenant who lived there previously (for 15 years)—he was a hoarder! So it was packed with stuff and was in desperate need of some TLC. But thankfully, the tenant was able to move out and into an apartment that better suited him. And immediately, Jason got to work getting rid of basically everything!

I I will link all the of sources and products at the bottom of each space reveal!

The ceiling in this bathroom needed to be replaced, so we figured once we’re doing it, we might as well do something a little more exciting than drywall! So we bought some pine tongue and groove boards, I stained them Minwax Western Oak, and Jason installed them and created faux beams, and I have to say, I think it’s my favorite detail in this space! It’s the perfect little accent in here! Click here for more details on how he did it.
